ProLaw Version 11.6 Offers Better Ease of Use for Attorneys
Thomson Elite introduces enhancements for users to capture more billable hours
and organize documents from the desktop
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 8, 2007 - Thomson Elite has added a comprehensive set of enhancements in version 11.6 of ProLaw®, the leading integrated practice and financial management software to automate the practice and manage the business of law. Thomson Elite is part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) and a worldwide provider of business software to professional services firms.
ProLaw 11.6 makes it simpler for attorneys to organize the constant flow of information that comes across their computer desktops and file it to specific matters and clients. In addition, it helps them more easily capture billable time and quickly assess the financial situation for any client or matter.
"Our customers have told us how much ProLaw helps them in their everyday operations," said Matt DeVoll, vice president, Thomson Elite. "With version 11.6, we're giving small and mid-sized firms, corporate legal departments and government agencies more of what they want - shortcuts and intuitive features to help them stay organized, capture more hours and focus more time on the practice of law."
ProLaw's Pro Filing feature now helps attorneys and staff members link tasks, contacts, e-mail, e-mail attachments and appointments to their relevant clients and matters directly from Microsoft® Outlook®, and keep them synchronized with ProLaw automatically. Outlook, Microsoft Word® and PDF files can be Pro Filed with the click of a button, without making the user leave the application.
Because capturing and managing billable time is a constant challenge, Thomson Elite developed tools to ease those tasks for timekeepers. ProLaw 11.6 allows users to create and manage multiple time entries throughout the day by automatically maintaining a running list and letting users capture time by starting and stopping the clock for entries listed.
Amelung, Wulff & Willenbrock, a civil litigation firm based in St. Louis, implemented ProLaw 11.6 prior to the product's official launch.
"Because our firm's focus is on the practice of law, anything we can do to lessen the burden of day-to-day operations is a plus," commented Ron Willenbrock, CEO at the firm. "This version of ProLaw certainly fits the bill for us in all aspects of our operations. Users are able to reap the benefits, including Dashboard enhancements and Outlook integration, and simply perform with more efficiency."
Ginger Rendon, a certified ProLaw partner and president of Legal Toolware, spent significant time testing the new version prior to its release.
"As a former ProLaw customer for many years, I am keenly aware of how well ProLaw can help law firms tie together many aspects of their practice," commented Rendon. "This new version puts that power at the users' fingertips and lets them leverage functionality, typically found in five or six separate software programs, from one convenient interface."
