Thomson Elite Introduces New Version of WebView Browser-Based Financial and Practice Management Software

Enhanced feature set now available through a convenient, user-friendly interface

LOS ANGELES, June 13, 2006 Thomson Elite, part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) and a worldwide provider of business software to professional services firms, has released Elite® WebView 5.2. WebView, part of the Elite Financial and Practice Management system, is increasingly used by professional services firms that require convenient and user-friendly Internet access to Elite system functionality and critical firm information.

“The improvements we’ve made in version 5.2 offer the best of both worlds: an even more comprehensive financial and practice management feature set and a simple design,” said Dan Tacone, senior vice president, market segments, Thomson Elite. “WebView delivers quick and easy access to commonly needed information and enables users to perform essential daily tasks – all without additional software installed on the desktop.” New offline time entry offers a convenient way to stay current with time entry when Internet access is not available. This feature provides easy uploading of entries when reconnected to the network. Other enhancements include

  • Enterprise Inquiry. This updated module includes significant new views and drill-down enhancements. Now users can view prior year information and gain broader insight into their firm’s activity history. In addition, the module provides a deeper level of data detail, making information available beyond the initial summary level. For example, fees accrued on a matter during any given month can be broken down by activity, timekeeper or other parameters. Instant access to the amounts and types of work done on the matter can strengthen client relationships.
  • Timers function. This feature, now more versatile, makes time entry easier by tracking how much time users spend on activities. Timers can now be set to always run on top of other desktop windows or to start automatically when WebView launches, and can be minimized on-screen. Plus, permanent timers can now be created.
  • Prebill. The Prebill module now includes the options to add text to timecard adjustments and amend and write-off hard costs.

WebView 5.2 is compatible with Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2005, the latest version of Microsoft Corp.’s relational database management system designed for the enterprise environment.
