Because Elite WebView is Internet-based, it is easily deployed, requires minimal maintenance and provides for a quick return on investment.
Intranet Technology and Its Features
An intranet is a private version of the Internet implemented on a company's network as opposed to the World Wide Web. Once an intranet is established, Elite WebView is easily installed on the server and available from any Internet Explorer browser. As with applications on a local or wide area network (LAN or WAN), an intranet is not generally accessible to the entire population of Internet users. However, it can be accessed by professionals working remotely and clients with limited access.
Here's how an intranet works:
- Applications deployed on an intranet are accessed through a Web browser running on a desktop or notebook.
- The browser receives Web pages from the Web server.
- These pages are generated dynamically by retrieving data from relational databases. For example, Elite WebView can display data from Elite systems, IQ SmartServerTM and Microsoft® Office applications like Microsoft® Excel and Microsoft® Word.
Advantages Over Traditional Client/Server Applications
- Traditional client/server software must be installed on every workstation that needs to run the application. In contrast, applications running on an intranet only need to be deployed once. After that, the application is available to authorized users by simply opening MS Internet Explorer on any PC or notebook. This implementation technique is called "rapid application deployment (RAD).

- Because access to the application is exclusively through a Web browser, maintenance and support issues are drastically simplified and reduced. Because client/server applications are installed on each individual workstation, maintenance and support issues are more complex and time consuming.
- Intranet applications can run on a "thin client." Client PCs running traditional client/server applications require significant resources, while PCs running intranet applications need only enough resources to run a Web browser.

- Important information from all Elite applications (e.g., Billing, Expense Reporting, Case Management, Records Management, Marketing) is summarized in a simple, concise manner for professional and administrative users. Search results can be re-sorted by clicking on a column heading.
- Search results screen displays total number of results pages for easy navigation.
- Inquiries can be easily revised to cover different time frames. New results quickly display.
- Elite WebView can also provide access to various search tools, administrative and personal information, and many other resources.
- Built-in hyperlinks quickly take the user from screen to screen.
- Summary data displays on top-level screens and link to additional drill-down screens with detailed information. Drill-down capabilities are available for each line in the main body of inquiry screens as well as including various total columns.
Financial Details
Financial details such as work-in-process amounts, aged account receivables, and write-offs can be viewed by multiple parameters, including timekeeper, engagement (matter), client, location, department, section and firm. The professional can drill-down on summary numbers to view the underlying data, such as detailed time entries and invoices.
Pre-bill Edit and Approval
Elite WebView expedites the billing process with anytime, anywhere access to bill editing and approval functions. Authorized users can make fee and cost adjustments, edit time and cost entries, and transfer time quickly and easily. After a bill has been reviewed and revised, the pre-bill can be marked "approved" directly from Elite WebView. The bill can then be generated directly from WebView or sent to the client by in-office staff.
Time Entry and Review
Elite WebView includes full time entry and review functionality. Time entries created in Elite WebView are automatically applied to the Elite Professional Billing System for seamless, real-time time tracking. Extensive time entry features are available through Elite WebView, including client and engagement (matter ) search and validation, time entry calendar, and edit capabilities.
Expense Entry
Elite WebView expense entry functionality allows users to enter expense reports and create reimbursement vouchers. Expense entries created in Elite WebView are automatically applied to the Elite Professional Billing System and Financial Management System. Finalization of costs and voucher approvals are then handled from these systems.
Marketing Information and Activities
Professionals interacting with clients on a regular basis have access to client development information, including phone numbers and addresses to mailing lists and seminar information. Elite WebView also generates contact reports, and contacts can be added to and deleted from phonebooks.
Calendar and Case Management Information
Elite WebView provides access to the detailed case information maintained in the Elite Case Management System. Professionals can quickly and easily access information, such as upcoming court dates, appointments and case histories.
Records and File Room Information
Elite WebView includes an easy check-out system for document folders for particular engagements or matters tracked in the Elite Records Management System. In addition to checking entire folders in and out, users can check out just a portion of the documents in a folder and use a search system to find information by folder, matter or sub-matter. Elite WebView uses a wait list system to ensure efficient access and sharing of folders used by multiple users. Queries can be conducted at the client level and additional details are available at the folder, insert and document levels.
